Hi, friends! It's been a while! I'm so excited to be back with a new update, and such a big and exciting one at that. Where to start?
Perhaps you noticed I dropped the "Wednesday" from my post title here. After almost 5 years of weekly updates I have finally decided to make the move to monthly updates! This will afford me more time between updates to work on detailed work for pewter totems and new lines (like the charms you'll see below!) and many of the other ideas I'm excited to start on. It also means my updates will be a bit bigger in scope - the best place to see in-progress pics and snippets for them will be on Instagram, and here on my blog! :)
I will also be expanding a made-to-order set of my more popular standard totems, which will ultimately function like my Fat-Fats collection (more to go around!). I've started the process with sloth and red fox!
Le Pondering Sloth Totem (Made to Order)
Hehe. Doesn't this group pic look like they're doing pilates or something? I love this guy!
Le Swift Red Fox Totem
Fun story! I had my closest encounter with a fox ever when SL and I were in London. We were walking back from dinner one evening, and a red fox darted out from an alley-way, swiftly crossed the sidewalk turning to look at us, and then vanished off into the night. Like, he really seemed to vanish - it was crazy! Sarah-Lambert made a perfect illustration of the moment:
Isn't it beautiful? She captured it so well!
We were only in London for a couple of days, the rest of the trip was spent in Cornwall. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw a few pictures of our adventures. We were there in late April and had the loveliest time! I highly recommend a visit, and if you do go, stay in St. Ives and don't miss Philps Pasties! They are one of the best things I've ever eaten. So much so that I had to make a Fat-Fat totem of one to go along with my Cornwall-inspired group. Haha!! Naturally.
CORNWALL FAT-FAT GROUP!
Seagulls cawed us to bed in the evenings. That plus the sound of waves = a happy night's sleep. I also saw one sneakily ripping open a bag of trash for gull party time.
You may be thinking that a meerkat is an odd fit for a Cornwall group. Well, I would have thought the same thing except CLEARLY there is something going on with meerkats in the UK. Anyone care to enlighten me? I saw meerkat gummies, meerkat art, meerkat puppets, meerkat figurines - truly enough that a Cornwall set didn't feel complete without one.
Seals! Cornish riviera cutie.
We spent a couple of days driving through the countryside and saw plenty of cows, horses, and sheep sprinkling the land with their cuteness. Baa!
The elusive chough (fire crow)! I did not know about this bird before our trip to Cornwall, but I was happy to learn about it from a friendly shopkeep who wouldn't attempt to mimick its sound but was happy to tell us a bit about it as an iconic Cornish bird. They used to be very common, but after a decline in numbers work is now being done to bring them back to the area. After learning about them, we looked everywhere we went to no avail in spotting one.
Not part of the Cornwall group, but sloth wanted me to tell you about his new haircut! Looking good, right? :)
Le Hungry Llama Totem - Muses Collection
Llama knows he'll be hungry sooner than later, and to prevent a hangry episode he always packs a few snacks! Today he's romping around with a pasty, a donut, and a slice of pizza! I hear ya, buddy.
Le Cheeky Lion Totem
Knocking 'em dead with his hilarious jabs.
And finally, the moment we have all been waiting for (maybe you just didn't know it): CHARMS!! They're here!
Oh my gosh you guys, I have been working at these for 8-9 months by now and I am SO EXCITED to offer the first two of the collection: sloth and stuffed dog! These are hard enamel/cloisonné charms based off my original silly animal illustrations! I've paired them with none other than le animalé colored cords, and they are ready to cute-ify all of your things!
Backpacks. Phones. Jackets. Notebooks. Cute portable game devices. Bags. Keys. Cameras. Musical instrument cases. Haha, you name it! In fact, I'd love to see how you use your charms; share your photos on Instagram with #leanimale and #lesillyanimals!
Sloth Charm - Sloth is thinking of ways to make $5,000,000.
Stuffed Dog - Stuffed dog has weird vibes.
That'll do it for now! I hope you enjoyed this update! I'd love to hear your thoughts about the new charms, new post format, and anything else you would like to share - feel free to get in touch anytime! email@example.com.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing with all your animal-loving pals! Happiest Wednesday to you!
